Raised so far
Daniel Lovegrove passed away on August 13, 2011, in a tragic accident while hiking at Monashee Creek. Always looking out for others, he died a hero. When his friend fell, Daniel grabbed him to try to save him. Sadly the tree came loose from the bank and they both fell to their deaths. Daniel was 21 years old.
Daniel grew up in Edmonton and moved to Peachland in 2007. He was entering his fourth year studying psychology at UBC’s Okanagan campus, and had been named to the dean’s list for the previous two years. The university honoured him with a posthumous degree in June 2012.
Daniel was a kind, giving and caring person. He marched to the beat of his own drum and was taken from us far too soon. He will always be remembered by his parents, Kerry and Thomas Lovegrove, and the love of his life Jennifer Sheets, as well as his extended family and many friends who deeply mourn his loss.
The impact of your support
In honour of Daniel’s memory, friends and family have established the Daniel Lovegrove Memorial Fund at UBC Okanagan.
Your gift will pay tribute to Daniel’s life, by supporting an award to assist fourth year psychology students who show great promise and are dedicated to their studies.
