Raised so far
Dawn Stinson completed her nursing degree in Kelowna while raising her young family. She was a caring and gifted nurse who completed her training in England and her practicum in Belize. She ran her own foot care business and was very happy to offer homecare to those in need. She practiced outpost and transition nursing and improved the lives of countless people throughout BC and Washington.
Dawn absolutely loved to travel, especially if there was sunshine! She was always caring for others and made anyone who entered her home feel extremely welcome, as if they were a part of the family. The relationship that she had with her grandkids was so special – her face would light up when they were around. She had an incredibly infectious laugh and even during difficult times she showed a zest for life. Dawn was an ardent feminist and atheist and held herself to the highest moral standards. She was an incredibly hard worker and drove those around her to do the same. She took solace in painting beautiful watercolours and was an excellent cook! Her magical handwriting and thoughtful cards that she would send just let you know that she was thinking of you will be cherished forever. We will honour her everyday and will never forget her wonderful greeting, “Hello, darling“.
The impact of your support
Your gift will pay tribute to Dawn’s life and career by supporting students at the UBCO School of Nursing. Gifts will be directed to the new Dawn Stinson Memorial Award in Nursing Fund, with final decisions on the award description and student eligibility to be made in consultation with the family.
