  • Prof. Emerita Martha Salcudean was a survivor of the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. Here is Prof. Salcudean talking to high school students at the 42nd Annual Symposium on the Holocaust at UBC, (May 3rd 2017) organized by the Vancouver Holocaust Education Center (VHEC).

  • Such a sad news. Spoke with her just recently, at her book launch. A kind-hearted, vastly intelligent, dedicated, proactive, hard-working, and beautiful person, who contributed significantly (and innumerably) to our department and university. After hiring me, she asked me to chair (usually, the head chairs these) a search to hire a junior colleague, and at the end supported hiring two (Elizabeth from UofT and Tony from MIT), just to mention one of those qualities in her. May she rest in peace!
